In 2023 and 2024, Canberra Art Biennial collaborated with cementa festival (Kandos, NSW) to delivery an artist Laboratory and creative exchange. Three artists representing Canberra Art Biennial and three representing cementa participated in the inaugural CanKan Laboratory. In October 2023 the Biennial’s Creative Producer, Tegan Garnett, along with local artists Emma Rani-Hodges, Sophie Dumaresqu and Tom Buckland, hosted the Canberra-leg of the Laboratory. Joined by cementa artists June Golland, Juundaal Strang-Yeticca and Tom Isaacs, who then hosted the second exchange in Kandos, in March 2024 lead by cementa director, Alex Wisser.
